Weekend Highlights
I started to write & breakdown what I did this weekend by the day... but I think I'll write a highlighted edition.
~ As the previous post states, the sound booth is almost done! It was a great accomplishment!
~ I heard from a 'long lost friend' who was very special to me & went MIA for a few years... hearing from her & knowing that she's doing great really made my weekend! (I missed you!)
~ Went to a the baby shower of Dave's boss Saturday evening (yeah, an evening baby shower... I thought it was strange too). It was cute. We got out of the house, socialized & played darts. I got a few bulls-eyes! All & all a good evening.
~ Attended to my B-of a computer. She kept freezing after 5-15 minutes of playing WoW. We tried a bunch of things: removing my old wireless card, cleaning out my hard-drive, opening up the case to blow air into it (in case it was overheating), lowered my graphic settings, defragment-ed my c-drive, & finally unintstalled-reinstalled WoW... I think the last one is what did it. I wish we would've tried that sooner, it probably would've relieved the stress sooner... hopefully that's it & my computer is healthy again. She's at least 4 years old & getting a new computer is an expense I haven't planned for so I'm going to push for at least another year
~ Discovered the restaurant Baby Blues BBQ (thanks to Dave). It was actually one of the most interesting places that we've been to since we've moved to Santa Monica & it's right down the street from us! I was hesitant at first cause it looked like a cheap hole in the wall, but it turned out to be really cool w/quality food. It reminded me of being in New Orleans :)
~ I bought & downloaded the audiobook, Rush Hour Italian (if you click on the link you can hear a sample of it at Audible.com) So far it's been pretty cool. There is this story line of a guy who meets a girl who agrees to teach him Italian. They sing songs, "Tanto piacere... it's nice to meet you. Piachere mio... it's nice to meet you too!" It seems like I could actually learn beginner level & conversational Italian from this!
~ Why learn Italian you might ask? I have always wanted to visit Italy. About 2 1/2 years ago Dave said to me, "If in 5 years you still haven't been to Italy we're going to pack up & just go!" I know that in reality you can't always just "pack up and go" (though it is kind of exciting). If you don't have the $$, then you don't have the $$... but with that in mind, I realized that I should be able to afford to go sometime in the next year as long as I plan ahead. I started researching the trip yesterday and over & over again it was stated, "learn some basic Italian before you go." So, I think that starting now is probably a good idea. Hopefully I'll stick with it. At least it won't be like Spanish where learning it would be a good career move... that form of "motivation" actually demotivates me :-P
So, I think that's it for my weekend. Tonight we have our last game of the season at 6:15. Yea for early games! I'm looking forward to it too cause the team is going to go out for a bit afterwards! Hopefully I'll last until then. I can't believe how tired I am! It sucks! At least my 3 day weekend didn't!
(I've definitely got a "case of the Mondays!!")
